Dedicated to Improving Patient Safety

In November of 1999 the Institute of Medicine released statistics suggesting that from 44,000 to 98,000 people in the United States die each year as a direct result of medical errors(1). In response to this as well as multiple recommendations for error reduction programs, we offer MEPARS:

MEPARS is an anonymous no fault EMS patient safety system patterned after the FAA (ASRS) system designed to improve EMS patient safety. MEPARS is designed to complement existing EMS process improvement activities.

MEPARS is designed to complement existing EMS process improvement activities.

MEPARS will improve patient safety by identifying adverse events and near misses that occur by and discussing them in an environment safe from disciplinary action or fear of malpractice litigation.
